Find out more about the changes and the reasons behind them
Our new web site is currently in Beta. This means that while we aim to support it to the same level as non-beta products, there may be times when it is unavailable for a little longer than normal. The site is also subject to development as we incorporate feedback from users.
The site has been designed to be as intuitive as possible, therefore rather than provide a step by step guide, the aim of this guide is to introduce you to the main features of the new web site.
Content

The Beta site contains a range of weather information including:
All of these can be accessed through the Weather menu at the top of the page.
Click on one of the links above to find out more.
Each page follows a similar format with the weather content at the top of the page.
A guide in the bottom left of each page provides additional information about the content of each of the tabs and how to use it. You will also find related links to other content which you might find relevant.

The homepage design uses a Widget approach to allow you to choose the content that you want to see on your homepage and where you would like it to appear.
Using the 'Customise' button in the top right, you can select which widgets appear on your screen. You can also choose to close or minimise these using the buttons on each widget.
The homepage widgets aim to give you a quick snapshot of content. Each widget provides a link to take you through to more detailed information of that type.
As we release new widgets we will add these to the bottom of your homepage, these will be highlighted as new. If you are not interested in the new widget you can easily close it by clicking on the 'X' icon.

You can change your forecast location by entering a location or postcode in the change location search box in the top right . You can select from 5000 forecast locations across the UK.
Throughout the site the warnings status icons will show what warnings are in force for the UK. In addition the homepage will display a message and ticker if any warnings are in force. You can click on any of these to go through to the main warnings page.
The warnings page provides a visual display of warnings which are in force across the UK along with the details of those warnings.
You can either view details of a particular warning by clicking it on the map, or view all warnings for a particular region by selecting a region from the right hand menu. Details of each warning will then be displayed in the central panel.
You can find more detailed information, such as the chief forecaster's assessment and the impact matrix which shows why the warning was assigned its colour by expanding the box. You can use the time-line or the thumbnails to show warnings for other days.
