Met Office

Content is made available to you provided that you make fair use of it. In order to maintain optimal service provision to all users, the Met Offices envisages that it may be necessary to restrict the amount of Content that you download. If so, the Met Office shall be entitled to notify you of an appropriate limit (determined at the Met Office's sole discretion) to your use of the Content (the "Fair Use Limit"). If, having been notified of the Fair Use Limit, you then exceed the Fair Use Limit, you agree to notify the Met Office by sending an email to enquiries@metoffice.gov.uk.

If you exceed the Fair Use Limit, irrespective of whether or not you notify the Met Office in accordance with the above clause, the Met Office shall be entitled, with immediate effect, to:

  • contact you to discuss upgrades to your service arrangements (for which there may be a fee); and/or
  • restrict your access to the whole or any part of the Content or services on the Site for an indefinite period; and/or
  • terminate your access to the whole or any part of the Content or services on the Site and terminate any applicable licences that you have to use the Content; and/or
  • block your IP address from accessing the Site and/or withdraw your right to use the Site (or any part of the Site).

The Met Office shall have the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify this Fair Use Policy, such change shall be effective immediately upon posting to the Site. You are responsible for regularly reviewing this Fair Use Policy to obtain timely notice of any such changes, as they are binding on you. The Met Office will post a last amended date at the bottom of this page to assist such review. Your continued use of this Site after such posting shall constitute your acceptance of this Fair Use Policy as modified. Some of the provisions in this Fair Use Policy may also be superseded by provisions or notices published elsewhere on the Site.
