The Met Office is ultimately accountable to the Under-Secretary of State for Defence, currently Kevan Jones MP. He in turn represents our interests at Westminster and delegates authority to us to deal with enquiries from Members of Parliament, the Scottish Parliament, the Northern Ireland Assembly, the Welsh Assembly and the European Parliament.
We provide objective and impartial information to parliamentarians and their offices, on request, and present evidence to a wide range of parliamentary committees, as required. We also submit evidence to consultations on issues of corporate interest and scientific expertise.
