Working with the Scottish Parliament

A photo of the outside of the Scottish Parliament building

The Scotland Act 1998 sets out those areas of legislative responsibility over which the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood has devolved authority.

Accountability for international elements of the Met Office’s role is reserved to the Westminster Parliament. But there are many areas specifically relevant to Scotland that we can provide information on including:

  • Health
  • Tourism, economic development and financial assistance to industry
  • Renewables
  • Scottish resilience
  • Climate change in Scotland and coastal marine
  • Natural and built heritage
  • Agriculture, forestry and fishing
