We advise customers ranging from the largest international
airlines and air traffic control service providers to offshore
helicopters and private pilots. The Met Office's global

Area Forecast Centres

vertical separation minima routeing (RSVM) by providing
height-monitoring services

Board (AAIB) to investigate Mandatory Occurrence Reports
(MORs)
- The UK's met. service provider supplying national
low-level products for the GA community, including TAFs,
METARs and SIGWX
- Providing unrivalled forecasting, analytical abilities
and archiving, helping you in the development of new
products and services and supplying data on meteorological
conditions anywhere in the world
- We are responsible for the provision of en route hazardous
weather warnings (SIGMETs) to aircraft within our area
of responsibility
- Large volumes of raw data, e.g. winds and temperatures
from meteorological models, can be transmitted over
high-speed telecommunication lines as GRIB data, as
used by the Met Office. These data are used by organisations
worldwide, including flight-briefing companies, helping
airlines to improve fuel efficiency.
- Working closely with ICAO, WMO and IATA on cost-recovery
methods
- Offering advice to the entire aviation industry since
1912 and delivering met. training since before WW2
- Significant experience of working successfully in
international civil-military environments, e.g. the
provision of met. equipment, forecaster workstations
and training to Pristina airport in Kosovo to improve
forecasting and observing capability
- Providing consultancy, from institutional aspects
of NMSs to ICAO recognised Satellite Distribution equipment
- FLYSAFE - Within the next 20 years air traffic is expected to triple worldwide. Funded by the EU, 36 participants from 14 countries have joined forces to design, develop, implement, test and validate a complete Next Generation Integrated Surveillance System (NGISS).
