JANUARY FEBRUARY MARCH
Mean temperatures ranging from 1 °C above average across parts of northern Scotland to over 3 °C above average across the Midlands and East Anglia. Provisionally it was the 4th warmest January for England in the areal series back to 1914. Rainfall generally well above the average with parts of northern England and southern Scotland having over 250% of their average rainfall. Provisionally it was the wettest January for Northern Ireland and the Scotland E climate area in the areal series back to 1914. Sunshine generally below average across western areas of the UK, but close to or above average across most eastern areas.

Preston Wynne (Herefordshire) recorded a maximum temperature of 15.2 °C on the 20th. Braemar (Aberdeenshire) recorded a minimum temperature of -11.3 °C on the 12th.

Mean temperature generally 1.5 °C to 2.5 °C above average across the UK. Maximum temperatures over 3.5 °C above average across parts of eastern Scotland, but minimum temperatures slightly below average across parts of England and Wales. Rainfall generally below average across the UK, but well above average across NW Scotland, with some stations recording over 200 % of average rainfall. Sunshine generally well above average, with England, Wales and the UK all having their sunniest February in the areal series back to 1929.

Trawsgoed (Ceredigion) recorded a maximum temperature of 18.2 °C on the 12th. Copley (County Durham) recorded a minimum temperature of -10.7 °C on the 20th.

Mean temperatures generally close to average across the northern half of the UK, but slightly above average across the southern half of the UK. Rainfall generally above average and well above average across parts of East Anglia and SE England. Provisionally, the wettest March over England since 1981, wettest over Scotland and the UK since 1994 and 4th wettest in the series back to 1914 for Northern Ireland. Sunshine generally above average across most areas, but close to or slightly below average across SE England.

Wiggonholt (Sussex) recorded a maximum temperature of 15.8 °C on the 15th. Braemar (Aberdeenshire) recorded a minimum temperature of -11.4 °C on the 26th. An area of significant snowfall gave 5 to 10 cm across some eastern areas of England on Easter Sunday morning (23rd).

APRIL MAY JUNE

Mean temperatures close to average across the whole of the UK. Provisionally, England, Wales and the UK all had their coldest April since 2001. Rainfall generally above average, and well above average across parts of eastern Scotland and north-east England. However, rainfall was actually below average most of Northern Ireland. Sunshine generally above average, but below average across parts of northern England and southern Scotland.

Weybourne (Norfolk) recorded a maximum temperature of 22.0 °C on the 26th. Blencathra (Cumbria) recorded a minimum temperature of -7.7 °C on the 6th. During the 6th an area of sleet and snow moved across much of the Midlands and SE England with 5 to 10 cm reported fairly widely, causing Heathrow airport to close for a time.

Mean temperatures generally 2 to 3 deg C above average, but only 1 to 2 deg C above average across eastern parts of Scotland and NE England. Provisionally, the warmest May in the series back to 1914 for the UK, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Rainfall well above average across southern areas of England and Wales, but below average across central and northern areas of the UK. Sunshine ranging from below average across south-western areas of the UK to well above average across northern areas of Scotland.

Great Malvern (Worcestershire) recorded a maximum temperature of 27.5 °C on the 11th. Kinbrace (Highland) recorded a temperature of -6.2 ºC on the 19th. Manston (Kent) recorded 121.4 mm during the 4 day period between 24th and 27th.

Maximum, minimum and mean temperatures generally close to average across the UK. In terms of mean temperature, it was the coolest June since 2001 for the UK. Rainfall generally close to or above average across much of the UK, but below average across some southern and central areas of England. Sunshine duration close to average across much of the UK, but above average across the SW.

London St James Park recorded a maximum temperature of 26.9 °C on the 9th. Tulloch Bridge (Highland) recorded a minimum temperature of -2.3 °C on the 24th. Capel Curig (Conwy) recorded 94.0 mm in the 48 hour period ending 0900 UTC on the 19th.
