The wettest Autumn on record

It's official, in England and Wales this has been the wettest Autumn since records began in 1766.

The England and Wales Precipitation series (EWP) starts in 1766 and is the longest series of its kind in the world. During Autumn 2000 (September to November) 503 mm fell, 196% of the 1961-90 average.

September 2000: 133 mm - the wettest September since 1981

October 2000: 188 mm - the wettest October since 1903

November 2000: 182 mm - the wettest November since 1970
