Working together to improve disaster mitigation and preparedness
| The conference will aim to improve
existing Early Warning Systems (EWS) already used by National
Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) to better
mitigate disaster and to investigate how they can be used
as a platform for multi-hazard warnings. |

Overall desired outcomes of the conference
- Set up projects to enhance NMHSs' capacity in specific
countries/ regions.
- Set up projects to raise awareness of NMHSs' capacities
on Disaster mitigation in their own countries and on the
international scene.
- Set up projects to improve the collaboration between NMHSs
to provide the best possible forecast in countries or regions.
- Take forward the mapping of risks.
The conference will aim to formulate
- How NMHSs can help government and other organisations
with disaster reduction.
- Why NMHSs should be part of an overall disaster mitigation
infrastructure.
- Why it is cost effective to use NMHSs for other disaster
warning dissemination.
