The Bahamas flag The Bahamas Department of Meteorology is under the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and has a staff complement of 50 people including those administratively and technically trained. The Department's main source of funding is the Government of The Bahamas.

Administrative functions are executed by Mr. Arthur W. Rolle, Director and Permanent Representative of the Bahamas with WMO. He is supported by Deputy Directors, Messrs. Trevor Basden, Jeffrey Simmons and Basil Dean.

Fourteen automatic weather observing stations, strategically placed on islands in the archipelago, provide up-to-the-minute information on meteorological parameters for reporting and archiving. A Doppler Weather radar, recently purchased and installed, generates products to aid forecasters. The products are displayed on the Department's web site.

For hydrological services, a member of the Water and Sewage Corporation is engaged.
