Malta
Malta flag The Meteorological Office of Malta International Airport is Malta's National Meteorological Service (NMS).

Responsibilities

Our aim is to provide users with information which helps them make safe choices thereby protecting and saving life and property.

We also provide forecasts, warnings and weather analysis, on routine or request basis, to:

  • the marine community;
  • the general public;
  • the media;
  • government-owned or controlled organisations;
  • the Civil Protection Department;
  • the Armed Forces of Malta.

Forecasts for the 50 nautical miles sea area radius of Malta are provided four times daily.

The following services are available, in Maltese and English, on the Malta International Airport web site

  • Five-day forecast for Malta.
  • Three-day forecast for Malta and the sea area in a 50 nautical mile radius.
  • Detailed one-day forecast for the Maltese Islands every six/eight hours.
  • Six day UV Index and the Heat Stress Index forecast.
  • Observations from seven automatic weather stations in various localities in Malta and Gozo.
  • Graphic images of wind direction/speed and temperatures with the Mediterranean.
  • An isobar chart and satellite images of the prevailing weather.
