Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INAM), was created
by the Decree 30/89, of the Council of Ministers, on 10
October 1989, as an autonomous Institute (financially
and administratively) subordinated to the Minister of
Transports and Communications. |
Mission
- Observation and analysis of weather and climate.
- Production of services.
- Promotion of the use of meteorological information.
- Contribution to the reduction of vulnerability from the
impacts of severe weather and climate change.
- Contribution to the safeguard of life and property.
Vision
- To increase the number of activities that need and use
meteorological products and services.
- To strengthen the institute to respond to the needs of
customers in respect to quality and quantity of services.

26 Synoptic stations (including eight Automatic Weather Stations)

Two Doppler Weather Radars
One Upper Air station
Personnel composition
INAM has about 350 employees nationwide of which about 130
are at the headquarters in Maputo.
