St Lucia
St Lucia flag St Lucia Meteorological Services (SLMS) began operating in 1968 as part of the Department of Civil Aviation. The SLMS is now a division of the Ministry of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities and operates two manned weather stations. The main met. office is at the Hewanorra Airport. The SLMS also has twenty-one automatic weather stations deployed island-wide.

The SLMS is responsible for the provision of meteorological data and information for St. Lucia and works closely with the National Emergency Management Organization in disaster mitigation and management. The SLMS has developed a number of linkages over the years with both government and non-government agencies especially with the Ministries of Agriculture, Tourism and Planning.

Local Government funds the SLMS, however, funding for some special projects and training courses comes from the WMO.

The mission of the SLMS is to continuously improve the range and quality of its systems, products and services.
