The TRIC awards are held annually, and represent excellence within the broadcasting world; Helen has said she is "thrilled to have received this year's prize". In a year that has seen major changes at the BBC Weather Centre, she went on to say that "it is especially pleasing to receive the award this year and it is a fine reward for the hard work put in by everyone at the Weather Centre." Helen joined the Met Office in February 1994 after graduating from Nottingham University with a First Class Honours degree in Physics. During her training at Cardiff Weather Centre she appeared on radio and television for BBC Wales and found her forte. Since moving to the main BBC Weather Centre in London in 1997, Helen has broadcast across all main BBC channels and regularly brightens up our breakfast too! Notes to editors
