Easter weekend outlook

12 April 2006

The Easter holiday weekend and first big 'get-away' of the season is just around the corner, with many people looking to the weather to play its part.

Contrary to the popular view that it always rains, Bank Holiday weekends often throw a variety of weather at us, and this Easter is no exception. Despite the risk of showers throughout the weekend, nearly all parts of the UK should see at least some spells of settled, dry and bright weather, allowing most people to enjoy the great outdoors at some stage.

Regional round-up of the UK weather for the Easter weekend

Northern areas will have some showers at times, with a fresh breeze and temperatures around 13 °C.

Central parts could see the best of the weather with just a few showers, light winds and bright or sunny intervals. In sheltered areas, the sunshine will lift temperatures up to 16 °C.

Southern regions are likely to be rather cloudy but bright at times and dry in most places with temperatures reaching 15 °C.

To make the most of the weekend and stand the greatest chance of seeing the best of the weather, keep in touch with the latest forecast and national travel news.
