Easter weekend forecast

The Easter weekend is often the first chance to 'get away' for the season and many people will be hoping for some fine weather over the holiday period.

The coming long weekend looks like providing ideal conditions for getting out and about. Most parts of the UK will be dry. There will be some sunshine with light winds over much of the long weekend, especially in the south.

A summary of the Easter weekend weather for the UK nations:

  • England and Wales are likely to be dry throughout for many with light winds, variable amounts of cloud and some sunshine, perhaps cloudier towards the end of the weekend. Temperatures will be above average with highs between 13 and 17 °C, and as high as 19 °C in sheltered places in the south. It will be cooler on some coasts;
  • Northern Ireland looks likely to see a lot of dry weather over the Easter break with some sunny intervals. Cloud could increase through the weekend but many places should stay dry. Temperatures will reach 14 °C in sheltered areas;
  • Scotland should start the weekend dry and bright with some sunshine although thicker cloud is likely to spread from the north with some light rain in places. Temperatures will reach highs of 13 °C in the south.

Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, Bob Wilderspin said, "There will be a lot of decent weather to come through the Easter weekend and with temperatures close or above average, it will feel pleasant in any sunshine."
