Bank holiday weather set to change for the worse

Met Office forecasters are predicting a change to cold, wet and windy weather during the bank holiday weekend. Saturday looks like being a fine day before heavy rain, strong winds and much colder weather sets in for Sunday and Monday – affecting plans for travel and outdoor activities.

Along with the heavy rain and strong winds, people will notice the sharp drop in temperatures – an unpleasant combination for those planning to be outdoors.

Met Office senior forecaster Steve Willington said, "The key message is that people should consider the weather forecast when making their plans for the bank holiday weekend. A change to much poorer weather is expected and this comes in stark contrast to the recent warm and mainly settled weather."

The Met Office will be working closely with partner organisations to ensure people receive the best possible weather and travel advice in the run-up to the weekend.
