Heavy monsoon rainfall is expected to affect the Irrawaddy Delta region of Burma over the next few days, hampering relief operations in the wake of Cyclone Nargis. Whilst total rainfall amounts are uncertain, up to 300 mm of rain is expected in the next five days.
The Met Office is providing a daily weather forecast to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office giving the latest guidance on the developing weather situation. These forecasts will assist UK-based relief agencies and the government in their work to help the many people affected by the recent cyclone.
