Wintry conditions continue

7 February 2009

Village in snow

As wintry conditions continue to affect many parts of the UK, the Met Office is warning of freezing overnight temperatures leading to the risk of widespread ice on untreated roads and pavements.

The respite in the unsettled theme will be replaced by more unsettled weather as a band of rain pushes across many parts on Sunday with the risk of sleet and snow for a time in northern and central areas, giving up to 5 cm of snow in hilly areas.

Beyond this, the outlook remains wintry with further spells of rain, sleet or snow for parts of the UK into next week, with the risk of further snow in the south by Tuesday morning. The public is advised to stay up-to-date with the latest Met Office weather forecasts and warnings on the Met Office website.
