Dr Matt Huddleston PhD BSc(Hon) FRMetS

  • A Met Office Hadley Centre Climate scientist who is now the Met Office Principal Consultant on climate change - linking the impacts of climate to global business.
  • Is one of the Met Office’s main spokesmen on the impacts of weather and climate change.
  • Has a Bachelor's degree in Physics and wrote his PhD thesis on the Arctic ocean at the Scott Polar Research Institute, Cambridge.
  • Has visited both the Arctic and Antarctic on scientific expeditions in ice-breaking ships, including HMS Endurance.
  • Has worked as a climate modeller for 15 years, helping to build the very latest climate models.
  • Has pioneered application of climate models to how our climate is changing now - helping develop seasonal forecasts for the UK and Europe, and of tropical storms in the Atlantic.
  • Has published peer-reviewed scientific papers comparing global climate models, on observations of the ocean and on tropical storms.
  • Is 36 and lives in Exeter.
