Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas market

Gingerbread biscuits at a Christmas market

Throughout November and December, Birmingham is transformed into a Christmas grotto as the Frankfurt Christmas market arrives in the city centre.

The market is in its 11th year and attracts thousands of locals and visitors to the city centre each festive season looking for individual Christmas gifts.

Up to 180 wooden traditional huts fill New Street and Victoria Square in the centre of Birmingham with Christmas crafts, decorations, handmade jewellery and gifts. There are also a number of stalls selling traditional German winter food and drink, including:

  • Mulled Wine (gluhwein)
  • Grilled sausage
  • German spiced biscuits
  • Marzipan sweets
  • Pretzels
  • German beer
  • Crepes
