Burns Night celebrates the life and poetry of the famous Scottish poet, Robert Burns.
Burns Night, also known as Robert Burns Day is celebrated on 25 January, which was the poet's birthday.
The day is traditionally celebrated across Scotland with a supper and the recital of some of Burns' most famous poetry. The supper generally consists of haggis and, for the adults, washed down with a glass of scotch whisky. Formal dinners are then finished with the traditional Scottish dance, the ceilidh.
