Edinburgh International Festival

A fireworks display completes the Edinburgh International Festival.

Each August, since 1947, Edinburgh has been transformed into a city of theatre, song and dance, when the Edinburgh International Festival takes place.

The Scottish capital becomes cultural centre of the world for three weeks in August, as a wide variety of artistic performers and exhibitors descend upon the city for the annual Edinburgh Festival.

Edinburgh's six main theatres and concert halls come to life with some of the world's top performers in a variety of types of show including:

  • Classical music
  • Theatre
  • Comedy
  • Dance
  • Visual arts

The three week event culminates with a spectacular fireworks display from Virgin on Sunday 31 August. The magnificent display will be set to music with the historic Edinburgh Castle as its backdrop.
