National Eisteddfod


The National Eisteddfod of Wales takes place between 1 - 8 August.

The event is Wales' leading festival and attracts more than 160,000 spectators. Each year, the festival rotates between the north and south of Wales and this year it will take place at Mathrafal Farm, Meifod.

It is one of the great festivals featuring cultural, music and visual arts, celebrating the Welsh language and culture as well as promoting Wales as a tourist destination.

The festival includes a variety of different performances, including:

  • individual vocalists,
  • local choirs,
  • dance,
  • literature
  • and theatre.

The Eisteddfod

The Eisteddfod is held on the Maes, a large area of land which is home to a large pink pavilion and more than 300 stands and exhibitions.

The pavilion is the centre point for the event and is where the competitions and awards ceremonies take place.
