The home of jump racing hosts a new year family event to celebrate the start of 2012.
This is a well-attended event, especially from the Pony Club members and their families as they have the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes in organised tours.
The weather can play a major part in whether a race meet will take place. Jockeys, owners and grounds staff will be paying close attention to the conditions right up until the race is due to start.
The two main weather conditions that can call off a horse racing event are either fog or frost. The jockeys need to be able to see the next jump ahead of them, if they cannot see the jumps clearly due to fog, and if the ground is too hard due to frost and does not look like clearing the course will be deemed too dangerous for the riders and the horses.
