The Olympic Taekwondo events will take place at the ExCeL centre in London between the 8 and 11 of August.
Taekwondo is competed in different weight categories for men and women and medals are awarded in each competition. There are four categories for men and women.
The taekwondo competition was added to the full Olympic programme in 2000 in Sydney, however it made its debut as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.
Originating from Korea, the martial art of taekwondo requires strength and power to deliver kicks and punches. Athletes will also need fast reflexes to block attacks from their opponents.
Korea won four Gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, while Great Britain won one Bronze.
