Olympic Games - Weightlifting

The weightlifting competition takes place at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow.

The London 2012 weightlifting programme takes place at the ExCeL centre in London between 28 July and 7 August.

There are 15 medal events in the weightlifting programme. There are eight men's weight categories and seven women's categories.

Weightlifting was featured at the first Olympic Games in 1896. The women's events were not added until the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

The last time Great Britain won a medal in the weightlifting competition was in 1984 when David Mercer won Bronze.
