This year, Oxford Street in London will be illuminated for Christmas on Thursday 6 November.
The lights switch on will mark the official start to the Christmas shopping season on Oxford Street, with thousands of shoppers looking for the perfect festive gift for friends and family.
Traditionally the Oxford Street Christmas lights have been switched on by a host of celebrities. This year, pop star Cheryl Fernandez Versini switched on the lights in front of 20,000 eager fans and Christmas shoppers, accompanied by boyband Rixton, Jess Glynne and the cast of the West End's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Thousands turn out to see the magical lights officially switched on and to join in the entertainment organised for the evening.
The lights will remain up along Oxford Street throughout the festive period until the new year.
