London Christmas Lights - Oxford Street

Christmas shoppers taking in the festive lights

This year, Oxford Street in London will be illuminated for Christmas on Tuesday 12 November.

The lights switch on will mark the official start to the Christmas shopping season on Oxford Street, with thousands of shoppers looking for the perfect festive gift for friends and family.

Traditionally the Oxford Street Christmas lights have been switched on by a host of celebrities. Last year, pop star Robbie Williams switched on the lights in front of 20,000 eager fans and Christmas shoppers, accompanied by Leona Lewis and boy band Lawson.

Thousands turn out to see the magical lights officially switched on and to join in the entertainment organised for the evening.

The lights will remain up along Oxford Street throughout the festive period until the new year.
