Run to the Sun

Surfing off the Newquay coast

During the bank holiday weekend at the end of May, Newquay plays host to a festival that includes cars, surfing and a number of DJs taking to the stage. The event is known as Run to the Sun and is now in its 27th year.

Before packing your tent and surfboard in your VW, check the Newquay weather.

More than 25,000 people head to the coast of Cornwall to enjoy the sights and sounds of the three-day event. This year, there are six entertainment arenas.

  • Main Arena: highlights include DJ sets.
  • Live Music Arena: includes up-and-coming artists and local artists, plus performances from some new comedy acts.
  • Silent Disco: this area has become a festival-goers favourite and has made a return to the festival.
  • Shakin' Shack: you will find the more acoustic performances in this arena, as it adds a more chilled-out feel to the event.
  • Unsigned Arena: new artists will be performing on this stage.
  • Bass Bunker: showcasing the latest in bass heavy beats.
