Olympic Torch Relay week one

The Olympic Torch Relay starts its journey from Land's End

The torch relay starts its 70 day journey across the UK on Saturday 19 May from Land's End in Cornwall, taking in all four countries within the United Kingdom before arriving at the Olympic Park on Friday 27 July.

8000 torch bearers will carry the Olympic Flame through communities across the country as it makes its way to the opening ceremony of the Games. A different city each night will host an Olympic Torch Relay celebration to mark the flame reaching their town or city.

Week one of the torch relay will see the torch travel throughout the south-west of the UK visiting:

  • Cornwall
  • Devon
  • Somerset
  • Gloucestershire

The torch will pass some of the most recognisable attractions in the country, in week one these will include:

  • Land's End
