Yesterday was the official start of British Summer time. Summer in the meteorological calendar covers the duration of June, July and August, or by the astronomical calendar it begins around 21 June on a day referred to as the summer solstice.
Here at the Met Office, we can't change the weather but we can help you to make the most of the Great British Summer by providing the latest forecasts and a host of useful information and ideas to help you enjoy the season whatever the weather.
Over the next 16 weeks we will be regularly posting new content onto these dedicated pages with ideas and suggestions from some of Britain's most interesting and engaging people and organisations. Along with exploring, relaxation and adventure ideas we will be including advice and guidance including how to stay safe at the beach with safety tips from the RNLI, sun safety with Cancer Research along with updates on how the weather could affect your health such as UV and pollen.
Stay one step ahead with our mobile weather services.
The latest weather forecasts from the Met Office are also available in the palm of your hand with our weather apps. Free to download our apps are accurate, easy to read and simple to use.
Mobile Weather is a graphics light version of the Met Office website that gives you up-to-date weather forecasts and warnings whilst you are on the move.
