Winter preparedness events in your area this winter

Local events where you can find out more about preparing for winter, and how your local resilience teams can help.


Thursday 27th November: 10am - 4pm
County Hall, Chelmsford: Essex Civil Protection & Emergency Management (ECPEM)

A winter preparedness engagement day for local (and visiting) public as part of the national 'Get Ready for Winter' campaign. There will be useful advice to ensure you're prepared for winter and the hazards that are associated with it. ECPEM will be joined on the day by a number of partners including Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, British Red Cross and Community Agents Essex. 


Wednesday 29 October: 10am - 4pm
Tendring District Council Emergency Planning Team in partnership with Harwich Town Council - Get Ready for Winter event, Park Pavilion, Barrack Lane, Harwich CO12 3NS

The Park Pavilion will be open from 10am until 4pm and representatives from organisations such as: Environment Agency, Met Office, Trading Standards, Essex County Fire and Rescue, Affinity Water Anglian Water who will be on hand to provide expert advice on how to look after yourself and others during the winter.

Thursday 30 October: 9:30am - 3:30pm
Bolton Council - Get Ready for Winter event, Victoria Square, Bolton town centre

Come and meet representatives from the across a wide range of organisations to get advice on how to keep safe and prepare for winter. The fun and interactive day for both children and adults gives you a chance to meet the emergency services, Environment Agency, Highways Agency, United Utilities, Royal Bolton Hospital FT, along with voluntary agencies such as British Red Cross, Age UK, Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, North West 4 x 4 Response and the Salvation Army.

You can test your concentration skills with the driver simulation vehicle or have a ride in the children's fire engine, meet the fire service search and rescue dogs, see water rescue equipment and police road traffic vehicles.

Bolton council departments including waste and recycling, gritting service, neighbourhood services and community safety   will be giving advice about staying safe particularly during dark nights. There will be tips on keeping warm and well over the winter period, including cooking ideas, and some great ideas for saving energy.
