The 'Get Ready for Winter' awareness event, now in its third successful year, was held at the High Chelmer Shopping Centre in Chelmsford by the Essex Civil Protection and Emergency Management (ECPEM) team. This event brought together a number of Essex County Council services, voluntary service and the health sector to promote the winter resilience message. This included Essex Civil Protection and Emergency Management, Flood and Water Management Team, the Red Cross and the NHS.
The aim was to bring together a number of agencies and services to highlight ways in which residents can prepare and support themselves, as well as others, around them for the months ahead. Providing help and advice for periods of severe weather such as those experienced in August and October this year, and comes at a time that response agencies are preparing for winter.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Prepared in Essex website, to tweet using the #winterready, or to follow @preparedinessex to keep up to date with the latest winter ready tips.
