ClaimCheck online

The Met Office offers a tool to help you make claims decisions more confidently, speed up claims resolution and save money by reducing call handling times and claims leakage, and increasing customer satisfaction.

ClaimCheck is a new product designed to help insurers deal with claims resulting from severe weather conditions. Impacts from severe weather are expected to increase as our climate changes, which may lead to more weather-related property damage.

With the potential for more policyholders to make claims in the future, we understand the need for you to be able to deal with claims quickly, efficiently, and with confidence. ClaimCheck will help your business meet your customers’ changing needs, and provide them with the best possible service.

Designed around an easy-to-use database, ClaimCheck Online only needs the postcode and date (and hour, if available) to provide all the relevant weather information needed to assess a claim.

Example of ClaimCheck Online.

Data available for each postcode sector includes:

  • Day maximum temperature
  • Day minimum temperature
  • Mean wind speed
  • Maximum gust speed
  • Rainfall total
  • Maximum rainfall rate
  • Lightning

ClaimCheck uses more than 10 million observations from satellites, rainfall radar and aircraft to give details at an in-depth local level — at a resolution of 2 km across the whole of the UK, mapped to individual postcode sectors. Updated hourly, 365 days a year, it provides an unrivalled level of accuracy in its reporting.

With ClaimCheck Online, postcode weather data can be accessed via the internet, so you will only pay for the data you view, and with no need for lengthy integration as it can be accessed from anywhere in the world. It is a simple password-accessed system and we will provide you and your users with individual passwords and account names.
