Terms and conditions

The legal stuff about how to use what you see in Met Office Invent.

  1. Agreement to Terms of Use:

These terms and conditions of use (the "Terms of Use") apply to your use of the  Invent tab within the Met Office website and all associated Met Office micro-sites linked to the Invent Tab (collectively, the "Site"). Please read the Terms of Use carefully before you start to use the Site. By using the Site, you indicate that you accept these Terms of Use and that you agree to abide by them. If you do not agree to these Terms of Use, you do not have permission to use the Site.

  2. Application of other terms and conditions:

The Met Office  Website terms of use shall apply to the operation of these Terms of Use. Please read the Website Terms of Use carefully before you start to use the Site. If there is any conflict between these Terms of Use and the Met Office Website Terms of Use above, these Terms of Use shall prevail. Where indicated, further terms and conditions shall apply to specific portions of the Site. You also agree to abide by such other terms and conditions with respect to your use of that portion of the Site.

  3. Ownership of the Site Content:

All rights in the content and software which are made available via this Site including, without limitation, the design and arrangement of such content and software (the "Content") are owned, controlled or licensed by or to the Met Office and are protected by all applicable English or international intellectual property laws. Save as expressly provided in these Terms of Use, no Content may be copied, reproduced, modified, publicly displayed, used to create derivative works or distributed in any way for any commercial purposes. By way of example, you may not use the Site to advertise or sell your products and services, to increase traffic to any other website for commercial gain or mirror any Content on any other website (without the express prior written agreement of the Met Office). You may not use any robot, spider, deep-link, page-scrape or any other automated device or manual process to monitor or copy any Content from the Site.

  4. Use of Crown Copyright:

With the exception of the excluded material which is set out below, the Met Office grants you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download, use, copy and adapt the Content (the "Licensed Content").
