The Met Office has produced a Daily Weather Report for the UK since September 1860 and they are still produced today as the Daily Weather Summary.
The Daily Weather Report provides a summary of the observed weather for each day for a selection of stations with charts and tables and textual descriptions of the weather on the day. The format and content of the daily weather summary varies over the many years of publication.
The summaries are a rich historical resource for anyone with an interest in the weather of the past. Scans of our original records have been completed from the period 1879-1980.
All issues for 1860-1980 and from 2003 onwards are available from our Digital Library & Archive. A separate page provides access to the most recent issues of the Daily Weather Summary. These are only transferred to the digital library and archive after the end of each year.
Please Email the library for further information.
