A generally bright and sunny day is expected across Snowdonia, after freezing fog patches clear the valleys. Feeling increasingly cold as the day progresses, despite winds remaining fairly light.
Generally good, but very poor in freezing fog/hill fog.
Early valley fog below 300m will lift and clear during the morning. Becoming largely cloud-free towards the northwest.
Easterly 15-20 mph.
| Valleys | Minus 1 Celsius, becoming plus 4 Celsius, but feeling increasingly cold towards the end of the day. |
| 900 m | Minus 3 Celsius. |
| Freezing level | 700 becoming 450 metres. |
A severe frost at first on Wednesday morning, with temperatures unlikely to recover above freezing at any height all day. Barring the odd patch of freezing fog, most of the day should be bright or sunny, with the best of the sunshine through the morning. Despite light winds at all heights, it will feel bitterly cold in exposure to the southerly breeze.
Generally good, but locally very poor in any freezing fog.
None expected.
Southerly 20 mph.
| Valleys | Minus 8 Celsius becoming Minus 1 Celsius. |
| 900 m | Minus 2 Celsius. |
| Freezing level | Surface, with temperatures remaining below freezing at all levels. |
Another severe frost is likely into Thursday morning, especially if skies clear at all overnight. Then Thursday is likely to be a largely cloudy day, with an increasing chance of seeing some light sleet and snow through the afternoon. Winds remaining light at all levels.
Perhaps a little less cold on Friday, but there may well be a little more breeze, so the cold feel will still be accentuated. Generally cloudy, with light outbreaks of rain or sleet at low levels, but a risk of some light snow above 300 metres.
Cloudy and damp on Saturday, with the chance of sleet and snow, especially given any altitude. Precipitation is not expected to be heavy, but given the cold air in place, it will only add to the cold feel. Hill fog is also likely to quite extensive.
Latest: 04/02/2012 13:41 Despite temperatures rising, winter conditions prevail, Ice Axe and Crampons recommended.
