Some early valley mist and low cloud will soon clear leaving a dry and bright day with prolonged sunny spells, particularly later in the day and across coastal hills. Small risk of a light passing shower during the late morning and early afternoon period. Easterly winds will be much lighter and it will feel warmer than of late.

Visibility

Generally very good or excellent, but poor in any mist and very poor in hill fog first thing.

Hill fog

Low cloud may well shroud some of the mountains through the early morning period. However, this will soon lift and disperse with summits becoming cloud free into the afternoon.

Maximum winds above 500m

Generally easterly 10-20mph, but sea breezes will affect wind direction on coastal hills.

Freezing level Above the summits, but locally frosty through the valley floors around dawn.

Early valley mist will clear to leave another dry and bright day with some sunny spells developing, especially across eastern hills. However, always more in the way of cloud across western hills, especially in the morning. This cloud may well be thick enough for a shower or two in the afternoon.

Generally good or very good, but poor in any mist and very poor in hill fog first thing.

Hill fog

Low cloud will affect western hills through the morning resulting in extensive hill fog, especially on coastal hills. However, this should lift and disperse through the afternoon, with many summits becoming cloud free, but some cloud may shroud coastal hills and highest summits at times.

Southwesterly 10-20mph.

Freezing level Above summits, but locally frosty through sheltered valleys around dawn.

Outlook

Monday

Turning cloudier and more unsettled with a band of rain arriving from the west during the morning, this may well be heavy at times and continue into the afternoon. Winds will increase markedly during the morning with widespread upland gales developing, easing later in the day.

Tuesday

Remaining unsettled through Tuesday with sunshine and showers, some of which may well be on the heavy side with the risk of thunder. Moderate southeasterly southeasterly winds, becoming fresh to strong southwesterly later.

Wednesday

The showery theme will continue as low pressure dominates the weather pattern. Some of the showers will again be on the heavy side with the risk of the odd rumble of thunder. The winds are likely to strengthen through the afternoon.
