Forecast summary

Regional forecast for South West England

A dry start, but heavy and thundery showers arriving later.

Today:

It will be a dry and bright start for many with plenty of sunny spells. However, cloud will thicken bringing the risk of some torrential thundery showers, giving frequent lightning, heavy rain and some hail. Turning muggy through the day. Maximum Temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Further torrential showers are possible overnight, particularly but not exclusively in the east of the region. Where it's drier it will still be cloudy and all will feel muggy. Minimum Temperature 13 °C.

Monday:

Most of the showers should have cleared by Monday to leave a largely dry day with some bright or sunny spells. It will feel rather humid for many. Maximum Temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Often dry with sunny spells although the chance of rain later on Tuesday and perhaps a few showers on Wednesday. Turning warmer from midweek with a fine day on Thursday.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Further thundery rain spreading north over the next 24 hours.

Scotland will see patchy rain ease to leave northern Britain largely dry with some sunshine. Much fresher than yesterday though. Meanwhile England and Wales can expect some warm sunshine, but with thundery rain spreading across southern England and south Wales.

Tonight:

Rain, some torrential and thundery, will spread north across England and Wales, reaching Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Northern Scotland will stay mostly dry. Turning very humid in the south.

Monday:

Rain across central areas, is likely to move north to affect most of Scotland. Southern England and Wales will be warm and may brighten up. However, further thunderstorms are possible.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Thursday 1 Jun 2017 to Saturday 10 Jun 2017:

Thursday and Friday will be mainly dry with sunny spells for most, although cloud and rain could spread southeastwards during the day. Still rather warm and humid in the southeast, with the chance of some thundery showers. Through the rest of the period, we are likely to see a more changeable pattern becoming established across the United Kingdom, with northern and western parts seeing spells of rain or showers at times. Meanwhile, many southern and eastern parts should be drier and brighter overall, with any spells of rain that do spread southeastwards likely to be fairly weak. Windy at times, especially in the northwest. Temperatures are likely to be near normal in the north and west, but warm in many southern and eastern areas.

Updated at: 1444 on Sat 27 May 2017

UK Outlook for Sunday 11 Jun 2017 to Sunday 25 Jun 2017:

Confidence is low during this period, although we are likely to see the changeable pattern continuing across the United Kingdom through the early part of June, with a predominately west or southwesterly flow. The unsettled conditions mainly affecting northern and western parts early on, but gradually these look likely to spread southeastwards, with temperatures near normal. By mid to late June confidence remains low, although on balance we are likely to see a continuation of the changeable conditions for many, with temperatures remaining near the average. However, there is a low probability of a more settled and perhaps warmer spell of weather possible around mid-June, mainly in the southeast.
