Dry, bright start, becoming cloudy with rain this afternoon.

Today:

Dry, rather cloudy morning with just a few bright spells at first. Rain will reach Fermanagh and County Armagh around midday, extending to all parts this afternoon and turning heavier. Westerly winds strengthening later. Maximum Temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy with further outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, becoming drier, clearer and colder later in the night. Fresh westerly winds but strong towards North Coast. Minimum Temperature 5 °C.

Wednesday:

Mainly dry, rather cloudy with a little sunshine, mostly in the north. Rain will return to more southern counties by early evening. Cool with light winds. Maximum Temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Rain and sleet at first Thursday with snow higher ground. Drier, brighter later Thursday and Friday but still cold. Wet, windy Friday night into Saturday with rain preceded by snow.

Windy, especially in Scotland. Otherwise, chilly in the north, with clear spells and some frost along with occasional showers. Elsewhere, it's cloudy though mild with heavy rain for some.

Wednesday:

Windy in the north and east, breezy elsewhere. Sunny spells in the north, along with some showers. Further south it's cloudy, mild and at times wet with winds easing later.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Wet and very windy on Thursday with hill snow in the north. On Friday, winds fall lighter, and it's drier with some sunshine. Further wet, windy weather arrives on Saturday.

UK Outlook for Sunday 26 Feb 2017 to Tuesday 7 Mar 2017:

Late February and early March look generally mild, changeable and unsettled at times, with Atlantic depressions pushing across the UK. This means there will be spells of rain, some of which could be heavy across high ground in the north and west, and accompanied by windy conditions, perhaps with gales at times, again more likely in the north and west. Showers in between these Atlantic systems could be wintry over northern hills. Some wind and rain is likely for the south and east too, though with more prolonged spells of drier and brighter weather in-between. Throughout this period there remains a lower chance that high pressure centred to the southwest of the UK may become more dominant and this would mean rather more settled conditions establishing themselves, with overnight frosts.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 8 Mar 2017 to Wednesday 22 Mar 2017:

For March there is a fair amount of uncertainty, but the weather is most likely to be unsettled at first. There will be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There will, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be around average for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, if settled conditions develop more widely. This is most probable later in the period.
