Another frost for some this morning. Sunny spells later.

Today:

A frosty and murky start for some, particularly in the east, with any mist or fog lifting during the morning. Brighter elsewhere, with spells of sunshine developing, though the skies may cloud over towards the end of the day. Maximum Temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Another cold and frosty night for many but with largely cloudy skies, accompanied by isolated drizzle or light snow flurries and the risk of ice in places. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

Thursday:

Cloudy to begin with, though the skies will gradually brighten through the day, allowing some sunny spells later in the afternoon. Windy, especially towards the coast and feeling very cold. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Outbreaks of rain gradually spreading eastwards on Friday. Heavy showers possible on Saturday, perhaps with the risk of thunder at times. Meanwhile, fine and dry on Sunday.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Sunday 29 Jan 2017 to Tuesday 7 Feb 2017:

We are likely to see a gradual change to more unsettled conditions across the UK early next week, with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, affecting northern and western parts, where it'll be mild and windy with gales possible in the north-west. Staying drier in the east and south-east, where some cold nights remain possible. Similar conditions are likely as we move through into the first week of February. Bands of rain will probably cross the country, interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. Windy at times, with gales likely in the northwest. The heaviest rain is also likely across northern and western parts. Temperatures are likely to be mild into the start of February, however there is a chance that the southeast may be drier and colder at times.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 8 Feb 2017 to Wednesday 22 Feb 2017:

At the start of this period the most likely scenario is for more unsettled weather with wet and windy spells interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. This would bring gales at times, especially in the northwest. Temperatures are likely to be slightly above normal for the time of year. South-eastern parts may well stay drier and brighter. From the middle of February, confidence in the forecast reduces but there is a possibility that high pressure will return, bringing more settled weather with lighter winds. As a result, temperatures may become colder at times, with overnight frost and fog again possible.
