Regional forecast for Wales

Very wet and windy at times. Briefly colder on Friday.

Today:

It will be a cloudy start to the day with patchy light rain and hill fog. Later, the rain becomes heavy for a time in the west and winds strengthen, however, temperatures remain mild for the time of year. Maximum Temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

It remains mild, windy and damp overnight with outbreaks of mainly light rain continuing. In the second part of the night this rain will once again become heavy. Minimum Temperature 7 °C.

Wednesday:

Winds become lighter on Wednesday. Heavy rain eases for a time across north Wales during the morning before it becomes wet again across all parts by the evening. Maximum Temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday will be wet with potentially disruptive winds. On Friday, winds fall lighter, also it's chilly though drier with some sunshine. Further wet and windy weather arrives on Saturday.

Today:

A cold start in the north, then turning wet, and milder from the west later. Another mild day across the south, though rather cloudy and damp at times with some hill fog. Becoming windy, especially in the north this evening

Tonight:

Windy, especially in Scotland. Otherwise, chilly in the north, with clear spells and some frost along with occasional showers. Elsewhere, it's cloudy though mild with heavy rain for some.

Wednesday:

Windy in the north and east, breezy elsewhere. Sunny spells in the north, along with some showers. Further south it's cloudy, mild and at times wet with winds easing later.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Wet and very windy on Thursday with hill snow in the north. On Friday, winds fall lighter, and it's drier with some sunshine. Further wet, windy weather arrives on Saturday.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Saturday 25 Feb 2017 to Monday 6 Mar 2017:

Late February and early March look generally mild, changeable and at times unsettled, with Atlantic depressions pushing across the UK. This means spells of rain, some of which could be heavy across high ground in the north and west, and accompanied by windy conditions, perhaps with gales at times, again more likely in the north and west. Showers in between these Atlantic systems could be wintry over northern hills. Some wind and rain is likely for the south and east too, though with more prolonged spells of drier and brighter weather in-between. Throughout this period there remains a lower chance that high pressure centred to the southwest of the UK may become more dominant and this would mean rather more settled conditions establishing themselves, with some overnight frost.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 7 Mar 2017 to Tuesday 21 Mar 2017:

For March there is a fair amount of uncertainty, but the weather is most likely to be unsettled at first. There will be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There will, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be a little above normal for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, which is most probable later in the period, particularly if settled conditions develop more widely.
