Regional forecast for Wales

Becoming colder with wintry showers.

Today:

Mainly cloudy with some outbreaks of light rain. The cloud and rain slowly clearing southwards through the day with drier, brighter but noticeably colder conditions following from the north. Maximum Temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining cloud clearing to leave a cold night with clear spells and a widespread frost. The odd wintry shower is also possible in the north and west. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

Tuesday:

Brisk northerly winds adding to the cold feel on Tuesday. There will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered wintry showers with a risk of hail and thunder too. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday will feel cold with sunshine and further showers, perhaps wintry. Thursday and Friday will feel less cold with fewer showers and some bright spells. Overnight frosts becoming less widespread.

Today:

Dry with sunny spells in the south but outbreaks of rain over central areas will move south followed by colder conditions. Windy with wintry showers for the north-west, more persistent for a time, with snow possibly to low levels.

Tonight:

Clear spells and wintry showers spreading down the east and west coasts. Widespread frost inland and staying windy in the north.

Tuesday:

Sunny spells and scattered wintry showers, with a risk of hail and thunder and snow over the hills in the north, at least. Breezy everywhere with gales in the north.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Sunshine and further showers on Wednesday, some wintry. Patchy rain moving south-eastwards on Thursday, then mainly dry on Friday. Becoming less cold with frost less widespread.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Saturday 29 Apr 2017 to Monday 8 May 2017:

Saturday is likely to be mainly dry and bright with temperatures less cold than recently, though it will still be rather cool for the time of year. However, rain is likely overnight in the far north and west and this may well spread across the rest of the UK on Sunday, with the best chance of drier weather in the east. There may be some further rain around on Bank Holiday Monday, but also some drier and brighter spells. As we move into the first week of May, we're expecting more settled weather to become established, with temperatures rising significantly giving us a warm week, perhaps very warm in some parts. The dry and settled weather is likely to last to the end of this period.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 May 2017 to Tuesday 23 May 2017:

High pressure appears more likely to be dominant in the second week of May meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, there is a chance of less settled conditions at times, especially across southern and southwestern areas. Temperatures are likely to be above average for the time of year with a chance of some very warm weather at times, with limited risk of frost. The forecast for the third week is less certain, though on balance, we might expect these settled and warmer than average conditions to continue.
