Regional forecast for London & South East England

Bright start, but increasingly cloudy and breezy. Some afternoon rain.

Today:

Largely dry with sunny periods, before cloud thickens from the southwest, bringing outbreaks of rain during the afternoon. Feeling warm in the early sunny spells, despite a fresh east to southeast breeze. Maximum Temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy, with outbreaks of rain clearing north, perhaps heavy at times. Turning drier from the south after midnight, although further showers are possible around dawn. Light winds. Minimum Temperature 7 °C.

Monday:

A mixture of sunshine and scattered showers. These heavy and perhaps thundery, with a risk of some more prolonged rain, mainly in the south. Feeling warm in the brighter spells. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Warm sunny spells and scattered showers Tuesday. Often rather cloudy and breezy Wednesday and Thursday with some showery rain possible, but also brighter spells. Chilly on eastern coasts.

It is going to be windy today. Rain in the southwest of England will gradually spread further north and east, probably not reaching Northern England, Scotland or Northern Ireland. The rain will be heavy at times in the south-west.

Tonight:

Rain will continue sporadically overnight, with more heavy bursts in the south-west. It will spread further north later but Scotland and Northern Ireland are likely to stay dry and breezy.

Monday:

The north will be dry, warm and sunny, especially further west. Showers or prolonged spells of rain will affect the south. Central parts will be fairly cloudy with patchy rain.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

The north and west will be mainly dry, bright and fairly warm. Cloudier further southeast with showery rain at times. Chilly in eastern counties. Becoming breezy generally.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 5 May 2017 to Sunday 14 May 2017:

This period will begin mostly dry and fine with the best of the bright or sunny weather likely to be across the west and north-west. The far south may see some showers or longer spells of rain at times and it will continue to be fairly breezy, especially on exposed eastern coasts. Temperatures will be close to normal and it will feel warm in any sunshine, but along the east coast it will be rather cool. Thereafter, it is likely to turn cooler more widely for a time with the best of the dry and bright weather persisting in the west and a risk overnight frost in the north. However, by the end of the period it could gradually turn more unsettled and milder from the southwest.

UK Outlook for Monday 15 May 2017 to Monday 29 May 2017:

As we head into the middle of May, it is more likely that drier than average conditions will continue. However there remains the possibility of some occasional wetter interludes, especially in the south and west. After a fairly cold start, temperatures are likely to become warmer with the chance that they could become very warm at times, particularly later in the month.
