Regional forecast for London & South East England

Becoming increasingly cold with showers, possibly with hail and thunder.

Today:

A mild start with broken cloud, some sunny intervals, and showers. Then turning colder with occasionally heavy showers, these locally wintry with a risk of hail and thunder. Fresh or strong winds at times, with near gales on coasts. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Some occasionally wintry showers will continue, especially near coasts. A slight ground frost will form inland, but with brisk winds, perhaps with local gales near coasts, then moderating later. Minimum Temperature 1 °C.

Tuesday:

Cold with an early frost. Periods of rain or sleet are possible later. Often cloudy, but with some brighter periods. Light winds will freshen later. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Cold on Wednesday, occasionally sunny with rain and strong winds spreading from west. Occasional rain and brisk winds is expected later Thursday, with further occasionally heavy rain on Friday.

Turning colder, with sunny spells and wintry showers.

Today:

Colder than of late, with frequent showers throughout the day and gusty winds in the south. The showers occasionally heavy and wintry at times, particularly over higher ground, with thunder and hail also a risk. Turning drier for northern Scotland.

Tonight:

Wintry showers continuing for many overnight, and breaking out in Scotland by dawn. It will be much colder than recent nights, with a risk of ice forming on untreated surfaces.

Tuesday:

Staying unsettled, with showers possible throughout the day, sometimes merging into longer spells of rain and becoming wintry over higher ground. Very windy at times, particularly near the coast.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Mainly bright in the north with showers, occasionally wintry. Bands of rain and strong winds moving east across central and southern areas, interspersed with some brighter, drier spells.

UK Outlook for Saturday 4 Mar 2017 to Monday 13 Mar 2017:

An unsettled picture is likely as frontal systems move into the UK from the south or southwest, bringing wet and windy weather at times. Snow is likely over northern hills, with a low risk of some snow more widely at times across the north. Between frontal systems, there should be some spells of brighter weather with showers which may be wintry at times in the north. Nevertheless, some brief quieter, drier spells are also likely. Temperatures will generally vary around normal for the time of year, often slightly above average in the south but rather cold at times in the north, with night frosts. There remains the possibility of a more widely settled but colder period, perhaps giving wintry showers in the east and north.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 14 Mar 2017 to Tuesday 28 Mar 2017:

For the rest of March signals are weak and confidence is low. It will probably be rather unsettled with spells of wet and windy weather at first, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions. Some snow is also possible across the north of the UK. There should, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be around normal for the time of year. However, there remains the possibility of seeing some prolonged colder periods, with a chance of snow in places. This is more likely later in the period.
