Regional forecast for East Midlands

A fine and dry day with sunny spells.

Today:

Following a chilly start it will be a largely fine and dry day with bright or sunny spells. Feeling pleasantly warm in the sunshine, but turning a little breezier later. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Dry at first with some clear spells, but cloud will tend to increase from the northwest through the night with some patchy rain possible later, especially over the Derbyshire hills. Minimum Temperature 7 °C.

Monday:

A colder, breezy and generally cloudy day with some outbreaks of rain, clearing to showers later, with the showers becoming increasingly wintry over hills by the evening. Maximum Temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cold and windy with sunny spells and locally heavy wintry showers on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight frosts likely. Generally cloudy Thursday with scattered showers, but feeling a little less cold.

Today:

It will be rather cloudy in the north with patchy rain at first, which will become more persistent later, with strong winds. For many it will be largely dry though, and pleasant in the sunshine.

Tonight:

Bands of rain will move south from Scotland tonight, with some snow over the hills in Scotland. It will become windy for many but southern areas should stay dry.

Monday:

Patchy rain will continue to move south tomorrow. Further sleet and snow will affect the north, especially over hills. Windy for many and feeling colder in the north.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Sunny spells and scattered showers are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the risk of hail and some snow. Becoming drier and less cold on Thursday, with a few showers.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 28 Apr 2017 to Sunday 7 May 2017:

Friday is looking to have a north-west to south-east split across the country. Wet weather is fairly likely across northern and western parts with the best of the dry and bright weather further south-east, though even here the odd shower can't be ruled out at times. Temperatures will continue to recover to near average across the country. Into next weekend, more unsettled conditions are likely, especially in the north and west, with the best of any drier and brighter spells once again in the south-east. As we move into the first week of May, western and northern areas may continue to be rather unsettled whereas southern and eastern parts should be drier, brighter and feeling warmer.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 May 2017 to Monday 22 May 2017:

As we move through May high pressure appears more likely to be dominant through the majority of the period, meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, low pressure may bring the possibility of less settled conditions at times, especially across western and northern areas. Temperatures are likely to be average or slightly above average. This will mean that we should lose the risk of frosts, and it will feel warm at times.
