Regional forecast for North West England

Very warm and humid with torrential thundery showers.

Today:

It will be a warm and sunny start, but clouds will soon build bringing scattered thundery showers. These will become more widespread through the afternoon with some torrential downpours, bringing the risk of hail and some surface water flooding. Humid. Maximum Temperature 25 °C.

Tonight:

Thundery showers will ease through the evening to leave a generally cloudy night with further outbreaks of rain at times. It will feel a little cooler than recent nights. Minimum Temperature 11 °C.

Sunday:

Sunday will be a dry day with sunny spells and light winds. However, it will feel much fresher compared with recently. Maximum Temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Becoming more changeable next week with showery rain on Monday, perhaps heavy and thundery. Tuesday, generally cloudy and damp but brighter on Wednesday with sunny spells and the odd shower.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Scattered thunderstorms moving northeast during Saturday.

Today:

Thundery showers will move northeast through Saturday, turning heavier across northern England and southern Scotland during the afternoon. Heavy and persistent rain too for Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Becoming drier across the south and west and still feeling hot.

Tonight:

Outbreaks of occasionally thundery rain will slowly ease northwards overnight, but persisting throughout in the far north. Elsewhere it will be dry with clear spells, feeling cooler than of late.

Sunday:

Rain will continue to slowly clear the Northern Isles through Sunday, elsewhere dry and bright with a fresher feel but further thundery showers arriving from the south in the afternoon.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

On Monday thundery showers will push north with brighter conditions following. Fresher again on Tuesday and Wednesday with light rain in the northwest and drier and brighter conditions further southeast.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Thursday 1 Jun 2017 to Saturday 10 Jun 2017:

Thursday and Friday will be mainly dry with sunny spells for most, although cloud and rain could spread southeastwards during the day. Still rather warm and humid in the southeast, with the chance of some thundery showers. Through the rest of the period, we are likely to see a more changeable pattern becoming established across the United Kingdom, with northern and western parts seeing spells of rain or showers at times. Meanwhile, many southern and eastern parts should be drier and brighter overall, with any spells of rain that do spread southeastwards likely to be fairly weak. Windy at times, especially in the northwest. Temperatures are likely to be near normal in the north and west, but warm in many southern and eastern areas.

Updated at: 1444 on Sat 27 May 2017

UK Outlook for Sunday 11 Jun 2017 to Sunday 25 Jun 2017:

Confidence is low during this period, although we are likely to see the changeable pattern continuing across the United Kingdom through the early part of June, with a predominately west or southwesterly flow. The unsettled conditions mainly affecting northern and western parts early on, but gradually these look likely to spread southeastwards, with temperatures near normal. By mid to late June confidence remains low, although on balance we are likely to see a continuation of the changeable conditions for many, with temperatures remaining near the average. However, there is a low probability of a more settled and perhaps warmer spell of weather possible around mid-June, mainly in the southeast.
