Regional forecast for Strathclyde

Mild, wet start, becoming drier, brighter, cooler this afternoon.

Today:

A cloudy and mild start with some rain, heaviest over north Argyll. Turning drier, brighter and a bit cooler from the northwest later this morning with sunny spells this afternoon. Quite windy with strong and gusty westerly winds. Maximum Temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Most places staying dry with clear periods but there will be a few showers over north Argyll, wintry on hills. A colder night with strong westerly winds easing down. Minimum Temperature 3 °C.

Tuesday:

Mainly dry morning and becoming cloudy. Rain will spread in during afternoon, turning heavier to the northwest of Glasgow. Becoming windy with strong to gale force westerly winds developing. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Cold, windy on Wednesday. Lighter winds Thursday and Friday but cloudy at times with some rain and hill snow, especially Wednesday night and Thursday. Drier, brighter on Friday.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Windy and mild with outbreaks of rain.

Today:

Spells of rain moving south-eastwards from Scotland and Northern Ireland into Wales and the Midlands. This followed by showers in the far north where it will also be very windy. Variable cloud amounts elsewhere and mild for all.

Tonight:

Showers continuing to affect the far north. Cloudy with rain and drizzle across England and Wales. Clearer and drier for northern England and southern Scotland.

Tuesday:

Dry for many with some sunny spells at first for eastern UK, but increasing cloud and outbreaks of rain approaching from the west, and becoming quite windy again.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Rain clearing on Wednesday to leave sunny spells but also strong winds, then wet and windy overnight, with very windy, showery conditions on Thursday. Drier and calmer on Friday.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Saturday 25 Feb 2017 to Monday 6 Mar 2017:

Late February and early March look generally mild, changeable and at times unsettled, with Atlantic depressions pushing across the UK. This means spells of rain, some of which could be heavy across high ground in the north and west, and accompanied by windy conditions, perhaps with gales at times, again more likely in the north and west. Showers in between these Atlantic systems could be wintry over northern hills. Some wind and rain is likely for the south and east too, though with more prolonged spells of drier and brighter weather in-between. Throughout this period there remains a lower chance that high pressure centred to the southwest of the UK may become more dominant and this would mean rather more settled conditions establishing themselves, with some overnight frost.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 7 Mar 2017 to Tuesday 21 Mar 2017:

For March there is a fair amount of uncertainty, but the weather is most likely to be unsettled at first. There will be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There will, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be a little above normal for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, which is most probable later in the period, particularly if settled conditions develop more widely.
