Regional forecast for Strathclyde

Mainly dry with sunny spells. Rain tonight and Friday morning.

Today:

Most places will have a dry and bright day with sunny spells and light winds. Wet, windy weather reaching the west coast of Argyll mid-evening will extend eastwards to rest of Argyll, Inverclyde and Arran by dusk, drier towards Lanarkshire. Maximum Temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

A cloudy, mild night with outbreaks of rain across all parts. The rain mostly light but turning heavier over north Argyll later tonight. Fresh or strong south then southwest winds. Minimum Temperature 12 °C.

Friday:

Cloudy during the morning with further light rain at first, gradually dying out. Mainly dry and brighter in the afternoon with some sunshine. Fresh or strong westerly winds. Maximum Temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Windy weekend with strong west then northwest winds. Blustery showers on Saturday, drier on Sunday, sunny spells both days, especially Sunday. Monday sees a fine start then rain later.

Today:

Thunderstorms spreading eastwards across southern parts at first, brighter but fresher conditions following. A damp start for some elsewhere, but sunny spells developing later. Breezier and much cooler than yesterday for many. Turning wet and windy in the northwest later.

Tonight:

Rain, locally heavy, and strong winds gradually sinking southeastwards across northern and central parts overnight. Southern counties, however seeing a drier night, with some clear spells.

Friday:

Many southern parts remaining dry and bright. Meanwhile, rain continuing southeastwards but becoming increasingly patchy. Brighter but showery conditions following into northern parts. Breezy, if not windy in the north.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Breezy on Saturday with showers likely for many. Drier and brighter for most on Sunday, though blustery showers possible in the north. Bright start Monday, but rain spreading east later.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 27 Jun 2017 to Thursday 6 Jul 2017:

Changeable weather is likely to continue at the start of this period with rain on Tuesday clearing to sunshine and showers on Wednesday. These are likely to be heaviest in the north and northeast, where it may be windy at times, with the best of any drier spells likely in the south and southwest. The rest of this period will remain unsettled with further bouts of showery rain, perhaps heavy and thundery at times, interspersed with brief drier and brighter spells, these most likely in the east. It will often be windy, especially in the north and west where there is a risk of local gales at times. Temperatures will be near normal or rather cool, especially compared to recently, although it may be warmer at times in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Friday 7 Jul 2017 to Friday 21 Jul 2017:

The changeable weather is likely to continue at first, bringing further showers or longer spells of rain with only brief bright or sunny spells in between. However, drier and warmer spells are likely to become more prevalent during the second week of July and these may perhaps become more widespread as we head into the second half of the month. This will bring more in the way of sunshine and higher temperatures, with perhaps some very warm spells possible. However, an increase in temperatures also poses the threat of some thundery showers.
