Regional forecast for Strathclyde

Bright spells and wintry showers.

Today:

A mainly dry and bright start with sunny spells. However, a scattering of wintry showers will develop during the day, these mainly over this Islands, Argyll and into Lanarkshire. Feeling cold in freshening north or northwest winds, coastal gales expected. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Wintry showers becoming confined to Argyll and the Islands. Mainly dry with clear spells elsewhere leading to a widespread frost. It will remain windy around the coast. Minimum Temperature -2 °C.

Tuesday:

Remaining cold with bright spells and wintry showers. Winds will be moderate to fresh from the north, but strong around the coast and over the Islands. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

The winds will ease and the showers well scattered on Wednesday with bright or sunny spells. Bright with occasional showers Thursday and Friday and temperatures beginning to recover.

Becoming much colder with wintry showers.

Today:

Dry with sunny spells in the south but outbreaks of rain over central areas will move south followed by colder conditions. Windy with wintry showers for the north-west, more persistent for a time, with snow possibly to low levels.

Tonight:

Clear spells and wintry showers spreading down the east and west coasts. Widespread frost inland and staying windy in the north.

Tuesday:

Sunny spells and scattered wintry showers, with a risk of hail and thunder and snow over the hills in the north, at least. Breezy everywhere with gales in the north.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Sunshine and further showers on Wednesday, some wintry. Patchy rain moving south-eastwards on Thursday, then mainly dry on Friday. Becoming less cold with frost less widespread.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 28 Apr 2017 to Sunday 7 May 2017:

Friday is looking to have a north-west to south-east split across the country. Wet weather is fairly likely across northern and western parts with the best of the dry and bright weather further south-east, though even here the odd shower can't be ruled out at times. Temperatures will continue to recover to near average across the country. Into next weekend, more unsettled conditions are likely, especially in the north and west, with the best of any drier and brighter spells once again in the south-east. As we move into the first week of May, western and northern areas may continue to be rather unsettled whereas southern and eastern parts should be drier, brighter and feeling warmer.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 May 2017 to Monday 22 May 2017:

As we move through May high pressure appears more likely to be dominant through the majority of the period, meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, low pressure may bring the possibility of less settled conditions at times, especially across western and northern areas. Temperatures are likely to be average or slightly above average. This will mean that we should lose the risk of frosts, and it will feel warm at times.
