Mainly dry, cloudy and mild.

Today:

A mild and mostly cloudy day to come although some brighter interludes are likely across Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and the Central Belt at times. Many places will be dry but some showery rain will spread to northwestern Argyll towards evening. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Rather cloudy this evening and tonight with some patchy rain and drizzle. Becoming misty with fog developing along the west coast and over the hills. Mild. Minimum Temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday:

A murky start with some patchy rain or drizzle. This soon clearing to leave a mainly dry, mild and cloudy day with some occasional brightness. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Staying mainly dry and rather cloudy, some occasional rain across northern Argyll. Staying quite mild.

Early fog patches in the southeast will clear but it will stay chilly here. There'll be some rain and drizzle today, mainly over parts of England, and later over northwest Scotland, but there will be some bright spells too.

Tonight:

It will stay cloudy and damp tonight, especially in the northwest. There will be low cloud and hill fog but clear spells and fog patches are likely in the southeast.

Tuesday:

Tomorrow will be a similar and mostly cloudy day. There'll be some rain across central and northern England but it'll stay dry for many, with cold, bright conditions in southeast.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

It'll stay cloudy, damp and mild for most over the next few days. It will be brighter at times in the south but colder, especially in the southeast.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 20 Jan 2017 to Sunday 29 Jan 2017:

The coming week is set to end with a continuation of high pressure dominating across the UK. The best of the sunshine is likely to be to the lee of higher ground in the north where it will also feel mild at times. The south-east will tend to be colder, leading to the risk of overnight frosts and fog. Into the last full week of January more unsettled conditions are likely to spread into the far north-west bringing some spells of rain at times. From this point onwards, though there is considerable uncertainty, the unsettled conditions are likely to spread south and east bringing less cold conditions to all and outbreaks of rain across the country.

UK Outlook for Monday 30 Jan 2017 to Monday 13 Feb 2017:

Looking ahead to the start of February the most likely scenario is that the Atlantic low pressure systems will bring spells of wet weather to all at times, interspersed with drier and brighter interludes. Temperatures associated with this would tend to be on the cold side, but lifted in association with weather fronts. However, there is a weak signal that an area of higher pressure will remain close to the UK, especially into the second week of February, which could give colder conditions for all with the return of overnight frost and patches of freezing fog.
