Forecast summary

Regional forecast for North West England

Staying mainly dry and cold with sunny spells.

This Evening and Tonight:

It will stay mostly dry, cold and cloudy overnight. Where clear spells develop, frost and mist will form. Light showers will affect western Cumbria and Lancashire and these may be wintry, especially over the hills. Ice may form after showers. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

Sunday:

It'll be another chilly day with patchy cloud and sunny spells. Cloud will thicken at times to give some outbreaks of light rain, perhaps wintry over hills. Maximum Temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

The coming days will stay dry, except for the odd shower in Cumbria. There will be some morning fog, but plenty of sunshine too. It will become increasingly windy.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Staying mainly dry and cold.

This Evening and Tonight:

It will stay mostly dry, cold and cloudy overnight. Where clear spells develop, frost and mist will form. Wintry showers will affect western and some northern areas and where these fall on frozen ground, there is a risk of ice.

Sunday:

Early mist will clear, leaving dry and sunny weather in the south and east. Skies will be cloudier further north and west, with some wintry showers in the west.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

It will stay dry over the coming days, except for some rain in the far north-west. Persistent fog is likely on Monday and Tuesday, mainly in central and southern England.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Thursday 26 Jan 2017 to Saturday 4 Feb 2017:

Thursday will stay dry and cold for most with sunshine in the east. It will become increasingly cloudy and windy in the north-west and heavy rain will reach Northern Ireland before the end of the day. The rain will spread into mainland UK overnight but the south-east will probably stay dry throughout Friday. This will mark a change to generally wet and windy weather over the weekend and next week. Bands of rain will cross the country, interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. It will be windy at times, with gales likely in the north-west. The heaviest rain is also likely across northern and western parts. Temperatures are likely to be mild for late January, however there is a chance that the south-east could stay drier and colder.

UK Outlook for Sunday 5 Feb 2017 to Sunday 19 Feb 2017:

At the start of this period the most likely scenario is for more unsettled weather with wet and windy spells interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. This would bring gales at times, especially in the north-west. Temperatures are likely to be slightly above normal for the time of year. South-eastern parts may well stay drier and brighter. From the second week of February, confidence in the forecast reduces but there is a possibility that high pressure will return, bringing more settled weather with lighter winds and a return of overnight frost and fog. As a result, temperatures may become colder at times although the chance of very cold weather developing is considered to be low.
